So 2013 is upon us, and my race docket is already planned out. Truth be told, it was pretty well finalized back in October 2012. Here’s the list:

Heart of The Valley sprint tri (750yd swim, 11mi bike, 5K run), May 27
Pacific Crest Olympic tri (1500m swim, 28mi bike, 10K run), June 22
XTERRA Portland sprint tri (500m swim, 21K MTB, 5K trail run), August 10
Sunriver Marathon, September 1
Silver Falls Half Marathon (trail run), November 3

Yeah, I’m nuts…but it’s gonna be a helluva ride!!

2011s race calendar was primarily 5Ks, with a 5-miler thrown in for good measure. 2012 was a bit more intense with fewer short races, a 10K, my first half marathon (which I was in no way properly trained for), and my first (and second) duathlon. 2013 should prove to be quite epic…pushing myself to do things I never thought possible.

Looking forward, I’m hoping to do either Ironman Tahoe or Ironman Canada in 2014 (along with some of the local races above), and then make a bid for the Ironman World Championships in 2015. Based on how I’m feeling now (I’m running 20+ miles a week) and my planned training schedule, I don’t think that’s impossible at all.

There are certain races I’m planning on doing every year, regardless of the “major” races on my plate: Beaver Freezer, Corvallis Half Marathon, XTERRA Portland and the Mudslinger XC race. You’ll notice I don’t have it listed for 2013…if you remember back a few months, I wrote about how I had to give it up in order to do some of these other races. I’m going to reach out to the race director and see what his plans are for 2014 and beyond. It’s such an awesome race, I hate to miss it…but tri is my main focus now, so we’ll see what happens.
